Meet Tommy Flick

Marriage & Family Therapist, MA, LMFT

I grew up in California and earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from U.C. Irvine, my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and worked as a teen and family therapist intern for four years. I earned licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California in 2011, opening Flick Connection Therapy in San Francisco. In 2013 I gained licensure in Texas so that I could support multiple Bay Area clients attending universities in that state.  In 2018, my wife and I moved to Spokane and I became licensed in Washington state.  Flick Connection Therapy is located on the South Hill, serving clients daily in the office and through teletherapy.

Growing up I was taught the importance of respect, responsibility and honesty. These are the core values I encourage as the foundation for therapy.  Teens and adults need to know they have someone who understands their struggles and can relate in authentic ways.

I’m formally trained in EMDR, CBT, IPT, and Mindfulness-based treatment modalities.  These approaches are all based on empirical evidence. The ability to administer multiple proven approaches to clients with different needs allows me to effectively work with many presenting problems.

When not supporting others professionally, I enjoy raising my two sons with my wife, water skiing, working on classic cars and race cars, and competing in sanctioned automotive races.  In addition to my therapeutic work, I’m most proud of winning the Pacific Cup yacht race from San Francisco to Hawaii, racing with my sister in the Silver State Classic Challenge, and taking eight years to restore a 1968 Ford Mustang.  As a “car guy” it’s my nature to see hidden potential in rebuilding rather than replacing.  My greatest reward is being thanked by clients who, through our work, have honed the abilities necessary to improve their lives.
